According to the toxicology report obtained by TMZ, Chris Cornell had different kinds of prescription medication in his system at the time of his death.

The report lists Lorazepam (Ativan), Butalbital (sedative), Pseudoephedrine (decongestant), baribiturates and Naloxone (Narcan), whereas the latter was apparently injected to “counteract an opiate OD”.

The wife of the Soundgarden frontman, Vicky Cornell has told TMZ:

“Many of us who know Chris well, noticed that he wasn’t himself during his final hours and that something was very off. We have learned from this report that several substances were found in his system. After so many years of sobriety, this moment of terrible judgement seems to have completely impaired and altered his state of mind. Something clearly went terribly wrong and my children and I are heartbroken and are devastated that this moment can never be taken back. We very much appreciate all of the love we have received during this extremely difficult time and are dedicated to helping others in preventing this type of tragedy.”

According to family sources, a variety of people close to Chris Cornell were taken aback by the instant classification of suicide made by the medical examiner. They themselves believe that his death was accidental, as he was too far under drug influence to actually act under any intention of killing himself.

On May 26th, Chris Cornell was laid to rest in Hollywood at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary.
