Of Mice & Men Discuss New Music, “An Album Is Forming”

Of Mice & Men have just released another new track called “Back To Me”, rather soon after their previous single “Unbreakable”, which was the first release since the departure of former vocalist Austin Carlile.

Turns out, those two songs aren’t the only thing the band has been working on recently, as vocalist/bassist Aaron Pauley told Rolling Stone India. He even goes a lot further and explains “An album is definitely forming”

He then proceeds to go into detail about the process of writing and gathering ideas for new music: “What we like to do is have a ton of songs and then from that kind of whittle it down and almost try to discover the threads in between rather than starting with the thread and weaving the songs through them. I think that in a way surprises us a lot more than just coming up with an initial theme. We discover that maybe we were trying to say this all along. Maybe it’s too early to say that an album thematically has taken shape, but as of right now the songs we are putting out are very much about continuing the fight.”

According to Pauley, the focus is more than ever before on being as genuine and creative as possible. “Everyone in the band can write and we love bringing everyone’s different ideas into our rehearsal space.”

So what bottom line is there to be drawn from this, especially regarding the possibility of a new album?

“In the summer we’re going to take a little time to work on some more music. There’s no concrete release date for an album but we’re definitely working diligently on it.”

Well, doesn’t that sound promising?
