Avenged Sevenfold Talk About Burning Out And Bringing In A New Drummer

Avenged Sevenfold have been supporting the release of their incredible album, The Stage, by releasing behind the scenes videos: The Stage Studio Sessions.

The most recent video that takes us behind the scenes of the track “Higher”, is actually far more than just about that specific track from The Stage.

The video focuses on drumming in Avenged Sevenfold and talks about how the band ‘burned out’ with the last album. M. Shadows commented as to how the band was “going through the motions” and that they wanted to instead be completely inspired and aim higher.

The band discussed where they wanted to take the next album, and wanted to bring in some of the ‘madness’ they’d missed.

This led to a line-up change where Brooks Wackerman came in as drummer. M. Shadows described it as “a match made in heaven” and how Brooks came from the same ‘school’ as Jimmy Sullivan.
