Acrobat Dies In Tragic Accident Prior To Green Day Performance
Prior to the performance of punkers Green Day, the crowd was being entertained by an acrobat Pedro Aunion Monroy, who was in a glass box while wearing a harness, suspended 100 feet in the air when the harnass snapped and Monroy fell to the ground. While paramedics were fast, Monroy died later from the injuries he sustained. This was reported earlier this weekend by The Mirror.
Green Day took the stage a bit later, while many of the attendees had just seen this horrible accident occur. Many witnesses have voiced their frustration towards Green Day and the festival organisation for letting the band perform as scheduled. Green Day later posted on Twitter that they were not made aware of the accident that had occured just minutes prior to their performance.
Mad Cool Festival has also posted a statement:
“Mad Cool Festival regrets the terrible accident that the aerial dancer suffered during the second day of the festival.
For security reasons, the festival decided to continue with its programming.
We send our most sincere condolences to all his family.
Tomorrow Saturday 8, during the festival, we will render a heartfelt tribute to the artist.”
